Carolina Ruiz Ramírez, born and raised in Bogotá, Colombia (b. 1988) also known as Helena Fox; is a Visual and Makeup Artist based in Los Angeles, California. With over ten years of experience in the makeup industry in her country, she has become an emerging force in the competitive world of Hollywood.

Carolina's journey began in Bogotá, where she first discovered her passion for art and makeup during her university years. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Visual Arts with emphasis in Graphic Expression from Pontificia Universidad Javeriana. Intrigued by the transformative power and plasticity of makeup, she meticulously honed her skills through countless hours of practice and experimentation by herself. Soon, her talent caught the attention of industry insiders, and Carolina was offered the opportunity to work with renowned brands and artists in Colombia.

She was a runner up of the first-ever edition of NYX Fine Artistry of Cosmetics Elite (FACE Awards) in Colombia. This exposure further fueled her determination to make a name for herself internationally. In 2017, she received a runner-up scholarship for Next Level of Cosplay (NLC) to study at Cinema Makeup School in the near future.

She has also had the incredible opportunity to work as a personal makeup artist for renowned international musicians such as Diego Torres (Argentina) and Pedro Capó (Puerto Rico) during their press junkets and events in Colombia with Sony Music.

With a deep-rooted passion for education, she embarked on a fulfilling two-year journey as a 'Fantasy Makeup' instructor at Lasalle College International (LCI) for their Artistic Makeup program.

In 2019 she went to Los Angeles for the first time to study Creature Sculpting with the NLC scholarship, fell in love with the city, and vowed to return.

During the pandemic, she passionately delved even deeper into self-education in makeup, taking online courses and seeking mentorships from renowned artists worldwide. Her commitment to growth and the connections she made during this time empowered her to conquer the makeup industry.

In 2021, her exceptional, service-driven makeup skills earned her the esteemed position of being the personal makeup artist for the talented lead actress Jessica Ann Collins during the shoot of AppleTV+ and Academy Award winner Mark Boal’s (The Hurt Locker, Zero Dark Thirty) show, 'Echo3,' deep within the jungles of Colombia. With her dedication to the craft and a keen eye for detail, Carolina created realistic makeup looks that flawlessly enhanced Jessica's natural beauty, all while enduring the demanding conditions of the environment and the script, making her an invaluable asset to the production team.

At the end of 2022, Carolina made the bold decision to move to Los Angeles. In the beginning of 2023, after an arduous process, she earned her legal immigration status under an 'Individual with Extraordinary Achievements for Motion Pictures or Television O1-B Artist Visa.

Armed with her expertise and contagious enthusiasm for her craft, she quickly integrated into the makeup scene, made connections, and began building a solid reputation as a hardworking artist.

Later in the year, she was chosen from among 900 contestants by the Mexican brand Jarritos and celebrity makeup artist Melissa Murdick as the winner of the 2nd Annual JarriTODOS Artist Grant Contest in the makeup category.

Carolina, known professionally as Helena Fox, is celebrated for her ability to create captivating looks that enhance and highlight the unique features of her clients and productions, whether it's a red-carpet event, a film, or a music video. Helena's artistic vision and fine arts mastery shine through in every brushstroke.

Carolina's dedication to her profession goes beyond merely applying makeup for a living. She is passionate about animal advocacy and has a solid background as a Cruelty-Free and Vegan Beauty expert, offering 100% cruelty-free and vegan makeup services. She actively collaborates with international brands that share her ethical stance.

As of today, she's eagerly diving into the world of prosthetics and special effects makeup, dedicating time to learn new techniques in order to continue enhancing her portfolio and be ready to face new challenges.
